Remember Who You Are!

For this discussion, please read Nehemiah 2:13-17.

If I were to ask you right now; Who are You Really? What would be your reply? Some would answer with their name. Some would reply with their family name. Some might even reply with their ethnicity. But this question is posed to make you think about who you are in the grand scheme of things. The verses which this topic is being formed from speak about a group of people whose identity was stolen by repeated attacks from their enemies. Their walls and gates had been torn down and burnt to the ground and their city lie in ruin. Now in those times, and even until today, walls represent security, strength, and identity. The higher your city walls where, the more secure your city was. To have no walls or broken walls meant that you were weak and open to any attack at any time!

Nehemiah came into Jerusalem and inspected the walls only to find that the walls that were meant to protect the city were in ruin. This bothered Nehemiah because it was sense of shame to have the walls of the Chosen People of God so destroyed. But the people of Jerusalem had grown to accept their condition and had no will or desire to rebuild their walls. So Nehemiah went to encourage the people and told them “Get up! Let’s rebuild this wall so we are no longer in disgrace; do you not remember who our father is? Are we not the chosen people of the one true God?” Like the people in Jerusalem, we may sometimes get discouraged by what happens in our lives.

But I encourage you, just as Nehemiah did, to rebuild the walls in your life, by remembering who you REALLY are! Remember who your father is and what that means to be a child of God. It is in this challenge that we find our “TRUE IDENTITY”. It is in our Father’s hands that we have our needs met and our troubles resolved! So whenever troubles come your way, just remember this, you are not just some ordinary person roaming this earth without a name or a purpose. When you understand that you are son or daughter of God, there is no situation and no person who can come and steal your Identity!

Preparandonos Para La Batalla:Que es eso que escucho?/ Preparing For Battle: What am I hearing?

For this discussion, please read 1st Samuel 17.
On Wednesday, we talked about the story of David & Goliath & of how King Saul & the Israelites heard the same words as David did, but they had 2 very different reactions. (Fear vs. Bravery) We talked that perhaps it was because David was not living with the glory of the past but he was living them daily. In other words, our reaction before Goliath depends on what we are feeding our lives. Does the music you listen to give you the desire to seek God and praise him? Does it invite you to depend on God no matter what trial you are facing? Does it urge you to sacrifice of yourself for the good of someone else? And what can be said about what we see on TV or the internet? What about our daily conversations?

Please pray and meditate on this and then comment. Also, tell us what is it that you praying God does during the upcoming fast.

I challenge you to get to know God through a personal relationship with him. God has been working in our youth and we await the great things that are to come. Through this blog we will be able to share the things that God is doing in our lives. There is a standing challenge to pray every night at 10pm. If you cannot at this time, please pick the best time for you.

Read Acts chapter 2, which details the story of when the Holy Spirit arrived to those that were praying in the upper room.

Our first discussion: Share with us what God did this weekend? What did you like best? What specific word did you receive from God?
